1. UNGEI- United Nations Girls’ Education Initiative

Driving progress for gender equality in and through education

The United Nations Gender Equality Initiative (UNGEI) is a global partnership dedicated to improving gender equality in and through education. They provide a platform for coordinated advocacy and collaborative action to knock down barriers to education, reduce the gender gap, and unleash the transforming power of education for all the girls, everywhere.

The UNGEI supports evidence-based solutions to improve gender equality in and through education as a global authority on the subject.

The Global Women Empowerment

2. UN WOMEN- The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women

UN Women is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and women's empowerment.

In July 2010, the United Nations General Assembly established UN Women, the UN Entity for Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment. UN Women works for the following causes, among others, based on the UN Charter's ideal of equality:

  • Elimination of discrimination against women and girls;
  • Empowerment of women; and
  • Achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
End Child Marriage

3. UNFPA-UNICEF Global Program to End Child Marriage

UNICEF and UNFPA launched the Global Program to End Child Marriage in 2016. The UNFPA-UNICEF Global Program to End Child Marriage encourages adolescent girls' rights to refuse marriage and pregnancy, as well as their enables them to achieve their aspirations through education and alternative pathways. 

Since 2016, the initiative has reached over 12 million teenage females with life-skills training and school attendance support, empowering young girls at risk of marriage or previously married. Over 105 million people, including major community influencers have also participated in debate and communication campaigns to assist teenage girls or other efforts to eliminate child marriage,
